Job Description

Purpose of Role

To execute all tasks and activities regarding the loading and certifying of all products produced by the process plants including carrying out stockpiling inspections, sampling, scale-checking and maintaining loads to achieve the required quality parameters as per set and agreed operating standards and procedures. To control and direct drivers in terms of collection and/or delivery of products by loading and capturing trucks on tracking system, confirming stackers and liaising with security regarding access and exit.

Role Context

Administration and Support

  • Maintain all inventory and stock requirements by accurately loading and capturing daily truck loads onto tracking system to keep track of inventory movement in line with agreed inventory parameters.
  • Provide support to the drivers regarding traffic direction, lane control, registration and confirmation of stackers to fast track and optimise the loading process.
  • Conduct data capturing, allocation of loads and determine product variances by gathering truck information as well as materials such as recording registration numbers, mass and product specifications to ensure accurate administration as required.

Operational Delivery

  • Maintain the weighbridge area by routinely cleaning the scales to ensure accurate mass reading and gather samples in order to submit to lab for testing.
  • Prepare sampling bags and splitters for splitting and ensure they are labelled and lined up and collect moisture samples for lab submissions.
  • Maintain a defined area in the stockyard by checking stacker pads and ensuring the allocation of appropriate space for stock including managing the damaged and un-saleable stock.
  • Provide thorough checks to ensure alignment to the set parameters and immediately contact stock controller supervisor and Logistics Manager to report deviations caused by external objects identified during inspections.
  • Manage telephonic communication between the control room and weighbridge to ensure the accurate transmission of information regarding load allocation, dispatch protocols and parameter tracking.
  • Maintain the weighbridge and surrounding area including the lighting plant at Stackhouse by providing support and executing all tasks related to switching on pumps, cleaning scales, unchoking of pumps and vegetation.

Resource Management

  • Determine resource needs within own area of responsibility to achieve individual role outcomes.
  • Request required assets and resources for the fulfilment of work duties to attain quality work outputs.
  • Use assets and resources optimally within own area of responsibility.
  • Utilise the Trek and/or Ton Trac system to drive store information and maintain records of logistic stock performance.
  • Prepare daily reports showing dispatch numbers for all plants to track and contribute to the overall reporting of monthly stock distribution numbers. 

Stakeholder Relations

  • Engage with all relevant Departments on issues of the area of specialisation, as directed by the Manager.
  • Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders, where required, to achieve work objectives and to maintain relationships.
  • Liaise with process control and stock controller to keep abreast of material specifications to ensure quality material is produced and optimise process efficiencies in line with set standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department in order to ensure a world class maintenance culture is established and maintained on the plant.

Compliance, Risk and Safety

  • Lead self and team’s course to achieve a safe, secure and accident-free work environment by consistently adhering to and following safety rules and procedures.
  • Participate in pre-shift safety discussions (Toolbox talks) to raise awareness and a safety-first mindset to maintain safety awareness of hazards and behaviours and reduce incidents.
  • Conduct planned task observations to monitor progress and identify deviations from process and safety measures to enable the implementation of corrective actions in cases of non-compliance to objectives and safety standards.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in area of accountability in line with safety standards and procedures.
Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Mathematics and Physical Science / NQF Level 4

Certifications:

  • Minerals Processing Certificate would be advantageous

Job-specific experience:

  • 2 years’ experience as an operator in a metallurgical Process operation/ Weighbridge Operator

Inherent requirements

Must be medically fit
