An opportunity exists for an exceptional Afrikaans Teacher to join the school from January 2027.

Role Overview:

The Afrikaans Teacher will inspire girls to explore the power of language and literature with confidence and curiosity.  You will be required to teach and assess all core Afrikaans language skills, including comprehension and listening, reading, language proficiency, writing, vocabulary development and oral communication.

 

Duties (not an exhaustive list):

• Teach Afrikaans (Grade 3-7)
• Ensure that lessons impart a love and competence in Afrikaans
• Plan and teach interesting and engaging Afrikaans lessons
• Active participation in the extramural programme
• Model the St Peter's Prep Schools attributes and values
• Teach according to the St Peter's Prep Schools Best Practice pedagogy

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• Tertiary qualification
• SACE registered
• At least 3 - 5 years teaching Afrikaans at a prep school level

• A willingness to work as part of a team and co-teach
• An energetic and inspirational approach to girls' learning and motivation
• A progressive understanding of current educational trends
• The capacity to develop and sustain new teaching methodologies and practices

• A willingness to support, mentor and be mentored
• The flexibility, ability and willingness to work outside school hours, when necessary
