An opportunity has become available for MR Operator Supervisor Survey at Samancor WCM, situated in North-west. The successful will safely assist with underground & opencast surveys and is also responsible for supervising the Survey Assistants.
Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

  • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
  • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk
  • Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
  • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate and report SHEQ status

CUSTOMERS:

  • Ensure Customer Satisfaction

BUSINESS PROCESSES:

  • Identify location of faces to be measured, stockpiles, trenches, etc.
  • Assist with installation of survey pegs
  • Assist general supervision of the team
  • Assist surveyor in setting up total station
  • Assist in measuring and offsetting faces
  • Download GPS raw data
  • Ensure Survey equipment is clean and charged at all times
  • Cut grade chains according to specified length, and mark washers as per Surveyor’s instruction with stencils (Either BLP,FLP or peg number)

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 / N3 with pure Mathematics
  • 7 Years relevant experience
  • Basic Survey Certificate
  • Valid driver’s licence

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of safety- and survey working procedures
  • How to measure faces underground using a tape or distometer
  • How to survey stockpiles
  • Installation of survey pegs
  • Be able to distinguish different survey pegs e.g.: centre, line and grade pegs
  • Operation of survey equipment’s, e.g.: GPS, Distometer, etc.
