The content writer will be responsible for conceptualising, writing, editing, and publishing high-quality, SEO-optimised copy, social media post copy and campaign copy across multiple digital platforms, including but not limited to websites, social media, and email campaigns. This role requires a strategic approach to storytelling that aligns with broader marketing objectives and maintains a consistent brand personality and tone of voice.
(This dynamic role requires a strong understanding of search intent and technical SEO tools to create high-quality content that significantly boosts visibility and click-through rates (CTR) on search and generative engines. A key focus is scaling quality content across thousands of SKUs and maintaining authority in a highly competitive SERP environment, covering diverse categories such as women's, men's, kids', and baby clothing, as well as cellphones and more. )

Content Relevance & On-Page Optimization: focusing on the "health" of our catalog, every page must serve both users and crawlers.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Through Copy: turning a browser into a buyer
Creative Writing in eCommerce: Create original, high-quality writing pieces in digital to drive customers to the site
Development of SEO-optimised copy content and writing to drive traffic and organic ranking
Enhancement of content copy to engage visitors, keep bounce rate low
Utilise analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to monitor content performance and iteratively refine output based on data-driven insights.
Support the brand team in developing digital and social media creative writing ideas that are trend-relevant
Creative writing and conceptualisation to support campaign plans
Writing and editing for brand announcements/responses across relevant channels
Proofreading and approvals of brand content across owned channels
Develop and review community management responses and messages
Collaborate with brand, digital and eCommerce teams to develop and manage content calendars, ensuring timely delivery of projects
Proactively identify opportunities for new topics and formats based on competitor analysis and emerging industry trends
Serve as a guardian and collaborate with the brand team, ensuring all content adheres to specific style guides.
Advisory and insights delivered in the SEO strategy, plan and implementation
Develop and co-create the annual brand content plan, digital content plan, and the e-commerce content plan
JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS
Post matric qualification (Marketing, Communications) or Psychology or Data Analytics
Proven Ecommerce Track Record: 3–5+ years of experience writing for high-volume online retailers, with a portfolio showcasing optimized product and category pages.
SEO Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, or BrightEdge for keyword research and gap analysis.
Search Console & Analytics: Experience using Google Search Console to monitor rankings and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to track content performance and conversions.
CMS Familiarity: Proficiency working within enterprise-level Content Management Systems (e.g., Shopify Plus, Magento/Adobe Commerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud).
Technical SEO Literacy: A solid understanding of how copy interacts with technical elements like H1-H6 hierarchies, meta tags, alt text, and schema markup.
Advanced Search Strategy: Search Intent Mapping, Topic Clustering: Skill in building "Content Hubs" where blog posts (long-tail) support and link to category pages (short-tail). Competitor Gap Analysis: Proficiency in identifying content gaps where competitors are outranking the brand for high-value terms.
Conversion Optimization: Background in using A/B testing or heatmaps (like Hotjar) to refine copy for better Click-Through Rates (CTR) and sales.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Experience working alongside Merchandising, Brand, and Dev teams to ensure SEO goals align with commercial priorities.
At least 2 years of previous experience in a retail environment, with eCommerce experience being an advantage
Generative AI workflow experience
Strong computer skills working in a Google Suite environment
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Excellent writing and proofreading ability
Ability to identify issues and resolve those quickly
Meticulous attention to detail is required
