We are seeking a Laboratory Technician: Anatomical Pathology to support our teaching and research. Key Performance Areas

Coordinate and maintain activities of the laboratories and the equipment's; control and manage inventory; prepare budget projections for laboratory equipment, components and consumables; prepare practical classes and provide practical support to students during and after practical sessions; grade practical reports; ensure proper record keeping in the laboratory; compile and/or review laboratory policies/SOPs, ensure the laboratories maintains the required quality standards, organise excursions; invigilate during practical sessions/examinations and adhere to and promote safety culture.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor’s (honours) degree (NQF Level 8) in Biomedical Science/Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences or an equivalent qualification with two (2) years industry and/or academic laboratory experience in Anatomical Pathology. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) and must be able to facilitate Cytology and Histology practical sessions. Must be registered/registrable with the Allied Health Professions Council of Namibia (AHPCNA) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Biomedical Technologist. Specialisation in Anatomical Pathology (including Cytology and/or Histology) will be an advantage.

All qualifications must be certified by the Police within the last three (3) months, and all foreign qualifications must be validated by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA). The normal retirement age is 65. Non-Namibian candidates who are deemed suitable for appointment will be offered a contract of five (5) years. Only applications submitted via the Direct-Hire system will be considered. Internal staff members must have successfully completed their probationary period to be eligible for consideration for any vacant position.
