Job Description

Job profile:

To maintain Mechanical equipment, upgrading of aging systems and installing new equipment/technology to ensure plant availability in all NTP facilities.

Key Performance Areas

Key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:

Ensure Plant/Equipment Availability
• Ensure plant availability within set parameters (>97%)
• Avail spares required and repair equipment immediately.
• Work according to work procedures and hand in documentation as soon as possible. 
• Keep workshops clean and available to do maintenance when required.

 Corrective & Preventative Maintenance
• Assess the work; evaluate what needs to be done 
• Job cards and work requests must be completed and handed in as soon as possible.
• Liaise with Production personnel to schedule inspections in the plant.
• Evaluate job requests; plan what is needed and complete job effectively.
• Inspect the equipment to be maintained in terms of the scheduled inspections or performance test requirements.
• Replace /repair equipment to prevent breakdowns.
• Time spend on jobs is essential, therefore good planning and problem solving is needed.  
• Ensure that all tasks on the inspection list have been completed.
• Obtain sign off the completed work from the requestor and submit to the Team Leader for processing.
• Note and report on possible areas of concern, make suggestions for improvements and follow the correct process.

Manufacturing of spares and stock control
• Check the consumable stock levels 
• Identify spares needed to be manufactured
• Liaise with the drawing office to collect the drawings for manufacturing and submit to Section Head/Team Leader for processing
• Manufacture small components for equipment repairs personally, as required, and ensure that sufficient spares are available on the shelf
• Check all stock/components on the shelf to ensure that stock levels are maintained (as lead time from overseas can be extensive) 
• Document stock taken off the shelf and ensure that the Team Leader is informed of the minimum stock level, to allow for timeous ordering

SHEQ Management
• Adhere to all safety aspects of NTP.
• Do Lebo observations according to NTP schedule
• TIR

Job Requirements

Key Knowledge & Skills
• Knowledge and understanding of the company policies and procedures applicable to the specific work environment to ensure that work outcomes are compliant to the policies and procedures
• A consistent awareness of the requirements that will ensure a safe working environment
• General mechanical knowledge
• The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently at all levels in the organization
• The ability to utilise the correct computer software and the relevant functionality applicable to the outcomes required

Qualifications and Experience:
• N6 Certificate/Diploma with trade test, Mechanical 
• At least 5 years’ experience in production plants/facilities as a qualified artisan
