An Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA), often known as an Intermediate Life Support (ILS) practitioner, is a registered professional with the HPCSA who provides critical, intermediate-level medical care, including IV therapy, medication administration, and manual defibrillation, during emergency transport.
Job Description

• Ensure the efficient handling and operational readiness of emergency calls

• Administer patient care in line with scope of practice

• Ensure the safe and rapid transportation of patients to the desired medical facility

• Ensure the accurate completion and administration of all medical reports

• Uphold high ethical and professional standards

• Respond constructively to pressure and persevere through challenges

• Adhere to company policies and procedures

Job Requirements

• Matric compulsory

• Appropriate Life Support qualification (ILS - AEA) BMR trained an advantage

• At least 5 years’ experience at the appropriate level

• Must have quality assurance knowledge

• Valid Driver’s License and PDP License

• Registration with HPCSA

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to cope under pressure

• Ability to work shifts

• High energy levels and tolerance for stress

• Adaptable and able to work effectively within a team
