Assist Technicians with preparation, testing, and analysis of samples as per approved test methods.
Perform routine testing and analysis under supervision.
Ensure correct sample identification, labelling, and traceability throughout the testing process.
Record and report result accurately in laboratory systems (LIMS/Excel/manual registers).
Report any deviations, abnormal results, or equipment irregularities to the Supervisor immediately.
2. Equipment Care & Maintenance.
Perform routine cleaning, basic calibration checks, and preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Maintain equipment logs and calibration records.
Ensure equipment is operated according to SOPs and manufacturer guidelines.
Assist in coordinating external calibration when required.
3.Quality & Compliance .
Implement and adhere to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001 & IATF 16949. Ensure compliance with documented procedures, SOPs, and work instructions.
Maintain proper documentation and audit-ready records.
Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing, and quality control checks.
Support corrective and preventive action implementation when required.
4. Health, Safety & Housekeeping.
Follow all laboratory safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Maintain clean and organized workstations.
Assist in safe handling and disposal of chemicals and test materials.
Support laboratory safety initiatives and compliance programs.
5.Administrative & Operational Support.
Assist with stock control of consumables and chemicals.
Prepare reagents and standard solutions where required.
Capture data into electronic systems (Excel, LIMS, databases).
Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives within the laboratory.
2.1 Minimum Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12) – with Mathematics and Physical Science preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a materials testing or industrial laboratory environment.
2.2 Technical Competencies
Basic understanding of materials testing methodologies will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of equipment care, calibration, and maintenance principles.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 & ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Familiarity with sample traceability and quality documentation systems.
Computer literacy, including:

Ability to lift and handle samples weighing up to approximately 20 kg.
Ability to work in a production-support laboratory environment.
