This Sector is looking for a talented professional to complement their team, in the form of an ICT Systems Analyst.

Core Purpose:
To analyse, design, integrate, and optimise ICT and digital information systems that support rail and infrastructure project delivery and asset management environments.
The role exists to ensure that business requirements are translated into reliable, secure, and governed technology solutions, enabling effective data management, system integration, and lifecycle information continuity.
The ICT Systems Analyst acts as the interface between business stakeholders, engineering teams, and ICT platforms to ensure systems are fit-for-purpose, compliant with governance standards, and aligned to organisational performance and operational objectives.
Key Perofrmance Areas:
1. Business & Systems Analysis
- Elicit, analyse, and document business, technical, and information system requirements.
- Develop functional and technical specifications for ICT systems supporting engineering and asset management environments.
- Map business processes to system workflows and integration requirements.
- Conduct stakeholder workshops to validate system requirements and solution architecture.
- Produce system requirement specifications (SRS), interface control documents (ICD), and data mapping structures
2. ICT Solution Design & Systems Integration
- Design and configure ICT systems supporting digital engineering, information management, and asset data environments.
- Define system architecture for Common Data Environments (CDE), document management platforms, and asset information systems.
- Ensure integration between enterprise platforms (ERP, EAM, GIS, BIM, document management systems).
- Oversee data exchange protocols and API integration requirements.
- Coordinate with software vendors, developers, and system integrators.
3. System Testing, Validation & Assurance
- Develop system test strategies, scripts, and validation plans.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and system commissioning.
- Validate data integrity, system performance, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Identify system defects and manage remediation workflows.
- Ensure solutions meet ICT governance, performance, and security standards.
4. ICT Governance, Risk & Data Management
- Ensure compliance with ICT policies, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Support system audits and information governance processes.
- Define data ownership, access controls, and lifecycle management policies.
- Implement controls aligned with enterprise risk management principles.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration registers, and change control records
5. Systems Optimisation & Lifecycle Support
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements.
- Support transition of project systems into operational environments.
- Optimise asset information systems for long-term reliability and reporting.
- Analyse system usage metrics to improve efficiency and user adoption.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and systems advisory support.
6. Stakeholder Engagement & ICT Advisory
- Act as ICT liaison between engineering teams, project managers, and ICT departments.
- Provide technical guidance on enterprise digital platforms.
- Deliver training on ICT system functionality and governance requirements.
- Support strategic ICT planning aligned to business objectives.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- A recognised post graduate degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering Informatics, Engineering or the Built Environment.
- Formal training in systems analysis methodologies and enterprise ICT architecture.
- Professional registration with the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) (or eligibility to register).
- Formal training or certification in digital information management aligned to ISO 19650 and asset management aligned to ISO 55000.
Experience
Essential
- 8 - 10 years’ experience in ICT systems analysis, enterprise systems integration, digital platform implementation.
- Experience working within complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure or enterprise environments.
- Proven experience translating business requirements into system architecture and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies and systems integration principles.
- Experience managing ICT governance and information assurance processes.
- Strong understanding of the asset lifecycle and the challenges of project-to-operations handover.
- Experience influencing teams without direct authority.
Desirable
- Experience in public-sector or state-owned rail environments.
- Experience working with incomplete or legacy asset information.
