Footgear, New Park Centre, Kimberly are looking for a results-driven Trainee Store Manager to lead store performance, drive sales, and deliver an exceptional customer experience
Job Description
This role is ideal for a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is passionate about driving sales, developing people, and executing operational excellence. You will be accountable for achieving business targets through effective people management, stock control, and in-store execution.
Key Performance Areas (KPIs)
Sales & Revenue Performance
- Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets
- Drive conversion rate (foot traffic to sales)
- Increase Average Transaction Value (ATV) and Units Per Transaction (UPT)
- Improve overall store productivity
Team Leadership & Performance
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing sales team
- Drive sales per employee and team productivity
- Manage staff performance, training, and development
- Foster a positive, engaging store culture
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional in-store service and brand experience
- Improve customer satisfaction and retention
- Resolve customer complaints efficiently
Stock & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock levels through effective receiving, processing, and replenishment of merchandise
- Drive inventory turnover and sell-through rate
- Minimise shrinkage and stock loss
- Ensure accurate stock control and replenishment
Visual Merchandising & Store Standards
- Execute and maintain visual merchandising standards
- Ensure store layout drives sales and customer engagement
- Support promotions and product launches
Operational Excellence
- Manage daily store operations and compliance
- Control store expenses and labour productivity
- Ensure adherence to company policies and health & safety
Key Responsibilities
- Drive store sales and achieve monthly turnover targets
- Lead, coach, and motivate your team to deliver outstanding customer service
- Ensure excellent visual merchandising standards in line with brand guidelines
- Manage stock control, shrinkage, and inventory processes
- Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing procedures
- Analyse sales reports and implement action plans to improve performance
- Train and develop staff in line with company standards
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and labour legislation
- Build strong customer relationships to drive repeat business
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric preferred
- Relevant retail qualification (advantageous)
- Must be computer literate; email & basic Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable using retail systems (POS)
- 3–5 years’ experience in a retail supervisory or store management role
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience with stock management and retail systems
- Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
