Digby Wells Environmental is looking for a young, passionate and dynamic Mine Closure Intern to join our team. The successful candidate will support our closure specialists in conducting mine closure liability assessments, developing mine closure strategies and plans. This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate who is passionate about sustainable mining and environmental management to gain practical experience in mine closure projects, and to join the leading environmental consultant company.
Key Responsibilities
? Assist in developing mine closure strategies, plans, policies and procedures.
? Conduct gap analyses of clients’ mine closure strategies and prepare reports on findings.
? Support the team in providing advice and guidance to clients regarding the implementation of mine closure plans.
? Assist with project administration on closure-related projects in accordance with the organisation’s methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
? Contribute to the development and implementation of mine closure project plans, in consultation with clients, to guide decommissioning and rehabilitation activities.
? Assist in calculating mine closure costs that meet regulatory requirements and support cost management during the construction and operational phases of mining projects.
? Participate in audits and reviews of mine closure plans and closure liability assessments.
? Assist in evaluating and monitoring mine closure plans throughout the different stages of the mine life cycle.
? Contribute to the development of alternative mine closure measures to remediate the impacts of mine development.
? Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
? Support business development and marketing initiatives within the mine closure team.
Minimum Requirements
? BSc in Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
? Valid driver’s licence.
? Advantageous
