Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing an effective and reliable social media communications framework for the mayoral campaign pertaining to policies, the political landscape, events and issues of importance in the relevant community
  • Providing high-quality written and visual material and content for DA communications in the assigned mayoral campaign
  • Assisting in ensuring standards of excellence are pursued and maintained in the creation and promotion of DA communications material in the assigned mayoral campaign
  • Monitoring and providing reports on social media performance

Job Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate or equivalent 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous)
  • Experience in content creation
  • Experience in building social media pages/accounts from the ground up
  • Experience in social media management (advantageous)
  • Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite

Skills:

  • Written and verbal communication
  • Attention to detail on claims of fact
  • Basic understanding of data, research and reporting
  • Time management
  • Organisation and coordination

 Abilities:

  • Use initiative and work well in high-pressure situations, meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to master a topical brief on matters of policy, politics, and history
