Our opportunity

The Portfolio Manager’s role is to manage, develop and grow a designated panel of Brokers, to retain existing business and generate new business opportunities with new Brokers and achieve the desired sales volumes, achieve Gross Written Premiums (GWP) and Loss Ratio Targets.

Job Requirements

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

  • Produce a Business Plan that reflects market opportunities for area of responsibility
  • Produce a Sales plan that demonstrates how to identify, develop and manage prospects
  • Underwrite and accept risks within delegated authority to achieve effective implementation of business
  • Grow and retain Bryte Sales target to ensure the GWP and profitability targets are met
  • Track Productivity levels in the required format
  • Deliver and enhance the highest level of client satisfaction by working with Brokers to map and determine their business needs in delivering superior client service
  • Strategically analyse the Brokers’ business plan and develop future business opportunities
  • Develop the Broker panel whereby the Business Development Growth targets are achieved through influence and persuasions
  • Ensure that technical and operational underwriting standards, procedures and controls are complied with
  • Implement agreed underwriting measures to attain targeted loss ratios and rates
  • Ensure adherence to the Regional Team’s Sales plan
  • Adherence to the current Bryte current risk acceptance criteria.
  • Adherence to the current Bryte reinsurance capacity.
  • Adherence to the current Bryte risk classification.
  • Adherence to the current Bryte decline risks.
  • Adherence to Bryte approved pricing and underwriting tools.

  • Regional Managers

  • Wider Bryte Insurance Group stakeholders
  • Brokers

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years short term insurance industry experience and sound experience in Sales with a strong presence in the Broker community.
  • Technically competent in Engineering Products and underwriting principles
  • FAIS compliant
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Knowledge

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of South African Insurance market experience within Sales
  • Sound knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements
  • Sound knowledge of Bryte Insurance South Africa and its business strategy and objectives

 

Travel and Other Requirements

  • Extensive local travel to Brokers in the role
  • Driver’s license required
