Job Description
Botswana Ash (Pty) Ltd is a soda ash and salt producing company situated on Sua Pan in Botswana, approximately 180 km by tarred road northwest of Francistown. The Company employs over 500 employees residing in Sowa Town, about 20 km from the Plant site. The town boasts recreational facilities, which include restaurant, tennis courts, squash court, swimming pool and a golf course. There are also excellent private and government pre-primary, primary and secondary schools.

ACCOUNTS OFFICER (X2)
JOB SUMMARY
Accounts Officer will be responsible for managing financial transactions, including accounts payable. The incumbent will meticulously record these transactions in appropriate ledgers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles and will be responsible for the following;
Accounts payable
- Receives and matches invoices from suppliers to purchase orders and GRN's before processing.
- Obtains invoice approval from relevant managers in line with authorisation limits before processing.
- Processes invoices in the system and allocates expenditure to the correct general ledger accounts.
- Prepares supplier payments and submits remittances and proof of payment to suppliers after payment.
- Returns all invoices with price variances to Procurement Section for clearance of variances with the supplier.
- Files documents regularly to facilitate ease of retrieval
- Stamps all paid invoices with paid stamp to avoid duplicating payments.
- Processes invoices in the system before every cheque run.
- Ensures that supplier payments terms are adhered to.
- Checks correctness of supplier master data and timely recommends update of supplier information to the supervisor.]
- Send withholding tax certificates to suppliers after payments of suppliers.
General Ledger Management
- Reconciles allocated general ledger accounts on monthly basis within set timelines and timely clears reconciling items.
- Checks for mispostings and initiate corrective journal entries to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Processes all the general ledger journals as instructed by the supervisor.
Payroll
- Timely processes employee change requests to ensure employee master data updates.
- Processes payroll data input in the system to ensure correct payments to employees and third parties.
- Timely processes third party payments after payroll run.
- Prepares payroll reconciliations assigned by the supervisor.
- Resolves staff and third-party queries timely.
- Ensures that payroll transactions comply with laws and regulations, i.e. Employment Act, Income tax Act.
- Assists in the preparation of withholding tax returns.
- Assist in the preparation of value added tax returns for both Botswana Revenue Service and South African Revenue service
Job Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- AAT/Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- BICA Certification at Technician membership.
- At least three years relevant experience post qualification.
