Purpose of the Role:
Manage the daily operations of the workshop to ensure that service delivery meets company standards, while maintaining profitability, quality, compliance, and staff performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production & Profitability
- Set weekly production targets within departments and monitor achievement daily.
- Ensure “first-time-right” completion on at least 80% of jobs.
- Authorize and track all rework and additional work.
- Monitor and control diesel usage, breakages, and overtime (limit to 40 hours per employee per month).
- Ensure regular maintenance and servicing of all equipment and tools.
- Analyse jobs to maximize profitability.
2. Quality Control & Safety
- Ensure consistent, high-quality work that meets insurance company standards.
- Enforce housekeeping and safety rules at all times.
- Verify that only licensed employees move vehicles.
- Maintain adherence to weekly reporting deadlines.
3. Compliance & Administration
- Ensure daily updates on the online system (TMS).
- Verify all vehicles are repaired according to authorization and signed off before delivery.
- Prioritize warranty or rectification work within group timelines.
- Control and track parts according to group standards.
- Inspect vehicles before moving them to the next department.
4. People Management & Training
- Participate in the recruitment of workshop staff.
- Ensure all staff are trained on TMS and the online system.
- Arrange and follow up on internal training to confirm competency.
- Manage discipline and corrective action according to company procedures.
Job Requirements
Education:
Experience:
- 5+ years in motor industry workshop management
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the motor industry and production processes
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Suite (Intermediate)
- TMS / panel shop systems
- Online production systems
