The ARC seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position(s) at Natural Resources and Engineering (ARC-NRE), Arcadia, Pretoria.
Job Description
  • Agricultural research and technology development in a team context or individually under guidance.
  • Good planning and management of research activities, including aspects such as effective use of facilities and resources, problem solving and liaison with experts.
  • Effective handling of personnel regarding utilization, training and evaluation as well as maintaining good working relations within the team.
  • Proper management of budgets in compliance with financial policies/procedures to ensure that projects are managed in a cost-effective and proactive manner.
  • Ensuring the successful completion of research projects in compliance with set standards.
  • Compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
  • Marketing and promoting Agrometeorology services/products to relevant role-players.
  • Involvement in campus activities such as research committees, section meetings and seminars.
Job Requirements
  • MSc in Agrometeorology.
  • Proven research background in climate variability and change impacts on agriculture.
  • 1-2 years of research experience in the relevant field and experience of working in a research team.
  • One scientific peer-reviewed publication will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work with communities and conduct fieldwork.
  • Willingness to travel away from home for intermediate periods.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Valid driver’s license (code 08/EB).
