Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions of Graduate in Training: Civil Engineer reporting to the Engineer Production and Distribution.
Job Description

The Graduate in Training: Civil Engineer will receive practical training and exposure in operations, monitoring of potable and wastewater systems, ensure compliance to quality standards and statutes, exposure on water supply demand management, non-revenue water, and customer satisfaction in the area of responsibility by providing planning, and engineering services for potable water, wastewater, infrastructure development, extension, improvement, and replacement. The GIT will also be exposed to management of water resources, potable water and wastewater treatment processes, network operation, upgrades as well as customer installation management. Part of the program will also involve ensuring reliability of assets and equipment to ensure continuity of water supply and wastewater services in the most cost effective and environmentally safe manner.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Water and wastewater systems including storage, dams, raw water sources, treatment, and supply. 
  • Knowledge of the safe handling procedures of chlorine gas and other chemicals. 
  • Knowledge of potable water quality control. 
  • Experience in technical and engineering principles of water and wastewater infrastructure, water production, transmission, and distribution practices. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of plant engineering standards and constructions practices. 
  • Expert-level skill in water treatment operations, regulatory requirements, and effective management. 
  • Skill in the use and application of computer software packages which include, word processing, spreadsheet, and database.
  • Technical report writing 
Job Requirements

Qualification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or chemical engineering

Advantageous:

  • Professional Registration
  • Membership of an internationally recognized professional institution of engineers with completion of approved pupillage (or equivalent).
