Job Description
Octane is looking for a Graphics Designer (Leads) to join our Marketing leads team. In this role, you will take ownership of the advertising creative for the business units assigned to you.
Key Responsibilities
- Advertising creative ownership: design and deliver all advertising creative for your assigned business units, including static, carousel, video and motion ads for Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (Display, Performance Max and YouTube) and any other channel the business unit runs on. Ensure enough creative assets are produced and enough ads are running to meet each business unit’s allocated spend projection as closely as possible.
- Planning and prioritisation: check new requests daily and confirm priorities with the Performance Marketing Specialist.
- Creative testing: work with the Performance Marketing Specialist to plan and execute structured creative tests across hooks, offers, visuals, formats and headlines, and produce variants in the volume required for testing.
- Performance-led iteration: review the previous day’s performance for your assigned business units in Qlik Sense to identify which creatives deliver the lowest cost per lead, the best lead quality and the highest profit, then scale what works and retire what does not.
- Creative refresh: monitor creative fatigue (rising frequency, falling click-through rate) and refresh ads before performance drops, not after.
- Landing pages and lead journeys: design landing page, form and funnel visuals so the message is consistent from the ad through to the lead form.
- Platform specifications: produce and export assets to the correct specifications (sizes, formats, safe zones and file weight) for each platform.
- Brand consistency: apply each business unit’s corporate identity (e.g. Motor Plan Direct, Value Insure etc.) correctly and consistently across every asset.
- Accuracy and compliance: ensure every ad for an insurance or financial product is accurate, not misleading, and compliant with Meta and Google advertising policies, FAIS and POPIA requirements, and internal compliance standards. Check pricing, product claims and terms before anything goes live.
- Feedback and turnaround: action feedback within the agreed turnaround times and flag capacity issues or deadline risks to management early.
- Support for other business units: when requested by management, assist with adverts and other content for business units not assigned to you.
- Asset management: name and file creatives consistently so each ad can be traced in reporting, log which creatives were launched, paused or retired (and why), and keep source files, templates and exports organised on the shared drive.
