An exciting opportunity has become available for a Maint Specialist Instrumentation to join the Ferroveld team, situated in Witbank, Mpumalanga. The successful incumbent will be responsible to safely maintain all measurement, automation and control related equipment to ensure minimal production downtime and maximized production while utilizing automation technology to improve safety and efficiency
Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To safely maintain all measurement, automation and control related equipment to ensure minimal production downtime and maximized production while utilizing automation technology to improve safety and efficiency.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Safety, Health, Environment And Quality:

  • Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
  • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
  • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
  • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

Customers:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction

    Maintenance Support:

  • Monitor corrective maintenance workload vs available manpower
  • Coach and mentor team members on effective plant maintenance management
  • Provide regular plant status feedback to the Instrumentation Superintendent
  • Compile and submit monthly section performance report
  • Monitor and maintain HQMS procedures
  • Initiate and review maintenance plans
  • Initiate and review maintenance task lists
  • Develop detailed scopes of work
  • Initiate and review standard operating procedures

Plant Availability:

  • React swiftly to any plant stoppages involving instrumentation equipment or automation faults, report all stoppages to the Instrumentation Superintendent
  • Ensure that relevant instrumentation spares and adequate quantities are kept in stock, and devise action plan to handle emergency situations
  • Perform senior standby duties when required
  • Backup all instrumentation software programs and ensure availability thereof

Plant Reliability:

  • Perform Pareto analyses, correlation analyses and report top 5 chronic losses
  • Interview production personnel with regards to and artisans with regards to repetitive trips
  • Monitor data/program integrity and develop action plans accordingly
  • Track Condition Monitoring (CM) results
  • Analyse equipment failure history

Growth:

  • Lead operating excellence initiatives to continuously improve efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Foster a climate of continuous improvement
  • Apply and motivate for capital project funding
  • Plan and execute projects
  • Keep abreast of latest equipment technologies/trends
  • Develop and present  training modules to HRD  standards
  • Provide specialist technical advice/assistance to Customers and Team Members

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B Degree / National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Process Instrumentation
  • 4 years’ relevant experience
  • PLC and SCADA training and experience
