The Western Cape Blood Service is a non-profit organization whose mission is to collect, process, and distribute blood and blood products of the highest standards in the Western Cape.

 

An opportunity has arisen for an IT Professional who wants to make a difference in people’s lives to join a dynamic IT Team. In this exciting role, you will join a small but vital IT Service Desk and provide 1st-line support for IT tickets logged, as well as administration, monitoring and escalation of tickets, compilation of SLA performance reporting, and administration of IT procurement, IT compliance and IT processes.

Customer service is at the heart of this role. You will help us continuously improve the IT experience by monitoring and analyzing user feedback, keeping users informed on the progress of their logged tickets, and identifying opportunities to improve the way we support the organization.

Purpose of the Job

To provide 1st Line online, telephonic, and desktop support, ensuring that quality standards are maintained by balancing technical problem-solving, customer service, collaboration needs, and administrative support functions for the IT department.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st-line support and resolution for IT tickets, ensuring IT calls logged are resolved within the specified SLAs while minimizing operational impact and downtime.
  • Educating end users on IT functionality, IT policies and procedures, and the use of IT systems
  • Administration of the Service Desk
  • Providing an IT Administration Function
  • Administering the IT procurement process
  • Maintaining Quality Systems for IT, including Standard Operating Procedures & Compliance Records
Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role would be advantageous
  • ITIL 4 certification or training is advantageous
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office applications
  • Knowledge of desktops/laptops and peripheral hardware
  • A valid Code B driver's license, without endorsements, is essential
