The SACAA has an exciting opportunity for an International Relations Officer within the Corporate Services Division. The International Relations Officer will support the planning, coordination and implementation of international relations initiatives, diplomatic engagements and global partnerships with relevant international and local stakeholders.
Job Description
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support the planning, coordination and implementation of international relations initiatives, diplomatic engagements and global partnerships with relevant international and local stakeholders.
Planning and Coordination
- Support the implementation of the International Relations Strategy and Plan.
- Coordinate international relations activities, engagements and related initiatives.
- Promote the adoption and implementation of global regulatory standards and best practices to advance South Africa’s civil aviation agenda.
- Support the implementation of the Regional Cooperation Programme.
- Monitor and track progress against relevant plans and programmes.
Administration
- Compile briefing documents for international missions and bilateral engagements.
- Coordinate, source, distribute and draft responses to State Letters on a daily basis.
- Update the Focal Point list as and when required.
- Coordinate, track the submission of, and retain trip reports.
- Compile and route report outcomes and recommendations.
- Coordinate the Regional Assistance Programme.
- Schedule preparatory meetings.
- Prepare itineraries, welcome packs and meeting materials for international guests or delegation
International and Stakeholder Relations
- Support and assist in the development and implementation of international programmes.
- Support the organisation of international visits, conferences, workshops, and diplomatic events
- Work closely with the DoT's Bilateral, Multilateral and Civil Aviation Branch to ensure seamless policy integration and provide technical expertise on international civil aviation matters.
- Coordinate international meetings (e.g., ICAO Assemblies, AFCAC Summits).
- Support collaboration with stakeholders to ensure international safety oversight obligations are met and to represent South Africa's safety record and protocols accurately abroad.
- Manage the relationship with the International Civil Aviation Organization, including preparing for and participating in audits (USOAP, USAP), attending panels and working groups, and submitting required State reports.
- Support the key point of contact for the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), promoting regional cooperation, supporting the implementation of the AFCAC Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) initiatives, and representing South African interests within the African aviation landscape.
Reporting
- Collate information for the production of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Ensure reports are submitted timeously
Compliance and development of policies and procedures
- Ensure that policies, procedures and processes are adhered to
- Ensure that the section does not attract findings and that all findings are addressed and closed
Protocol Management
- Ensure compliance with applicable government or related protocol requirements.
- Coordinate Protocol management initiatives
Job Requirements
EDUCATION
National Diploma in International Relations, Political Science, or relevant equivalent qualification.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Political Science, or equivalent qualification.
EXPERIENCE
- 3 Years experience in International Relations, Political Science, Stakeholder Relations or related fields.
