Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:To ensure that all packaging, promotional material, advertising, event proposals, sample requests, and healthcare professional interactions are legally compliant with statutory laws, industry codes, and internal policies. The role is key in safeguarding the organization’s reputation, mitigating regulatory risks, and promoting ethical business conduct by ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations and the King Code of Governance in South Africa. MAIN TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES:Regulatory & Code Compliance
·        Review, evaluate, and approve all packaging artwork, promotional and marketing material, including print, broadcast, audiovisual media, and online content.
·        Ensure 100% compliance with Act 101 of 1965, Act 53 of 1974, Marketing Code of Practice, ASA requirements, Consumer Protection Act, and internal SOPs.
·        Evaluate all event and meeting proposals, as well as sample and donation requests, to ensure compliance, legal transparency, and ethical standards.
·        Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry codes and communicate changes to internal stakeholders.
 
Artwork Review
·        Conduct detailed examination and correction of packaging and promotional artwork to ensure accuracy, readability, and compliance with approved dossiers and regulatory requirements.
·        Liaise with Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and Design teams to resolve discrepancies and implement required changes within agreed timelines.
 
Compliance Training & Awareness
·        Develop, coordinate, and deliver compliance training for internal staff on relevant legislation, codes of practice, and internal advertising policies.
·        Promote a culture of compliance and ethical marketing practices across the organization.
 
Complaints Handling & Issue Resolution
·        Investigate and respond to complaints related to promotional material and marketing activities.
·        Escalate and resolve non-compliance issues with cross-functional teams and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
·        Monitor complaints against competitor companies and follow through to resolution where applicable.
 
Process Control & Documentation
·        Manage compliance processes and ensure adherence to timelines for review, approval, and response.
·        Maintain organized and up-to-date document management systems (both physical and electronic).
·        Ensure effective filing and record-keeping for audit-readiness and inspection purposes.
 

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications §  Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or equivalent degree
§  Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist
§  Training in Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) and Good Promotional Practice (GPP)
Experience §  Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in Regulatory Affairs, Medical Compliance, or a related pharmaceutical industry role
§  Proven experience in reviewing and approving promotional material, packaging artwork, and marketing material
§  Exposure to Medicines and Related Substances Control Act (Act 101/1965), Marketing Code of Practice, ASA requirements, Consumer Protection Act, and other relevant legislation.
§  Experience working cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical, Legal, and Commercial teams
§  Involvement in complaint handling, event approval, and compliance training Languages English Other §  Excellent command of English and Afrikaans (reading, writing, and comprehension)
§  Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate legal and regulatory requirements effectively
§  High attention to detail with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
§  Willingness to stay up-to-date with regulatory and industry changes and implement them at operational level.
