Our client is looking for a Marketing Expense Accountant to help keep marketing spend accurate, controlled, and aligned with business budgets.
Job Description
Purpose:
The Marketing Expense Accountant will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and controlling marketing expenditure to ensure accurate financial reporting, budget compliance, and adherence to company policies and accounting standards. The role provides financial support to the Marketing department by overseeing the accounting, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of marketing expenses, ensuring that all costs are accurately recorded, appropriately authorised, and aligned with approved budgets.
Job Requirements
1. Marketing Expense Review and Management
- Review, verify, and process all marketing-related expenses to ensure they are accurate, reasonable, compliant, and properly supported.
- Review expense claims and payment requests related to marketing campaigns, advertising, brand promotion, digital marketing, media buying, exhibitions, sponsorships, promotional gifts, and other marketing activities.
- Ensure all expenses comply with the Company's financial policies, approved budgets, and authorization procedures.
2. Budget Planning and Control
- Assist in preparing annual and monthly marketing budgets.
- Monitor the budget utilization of various car brands
- Track budget execution, identify potential overspending, and provide timely variance analysis.
- Ensure marketing expenditures remain within the approved budget.
3. Contract and Payment Management
- Review marketing contracts, quotations, purchase requisitions, and payment applications.
- Verify contract values, payment milestones, deliverables, and supporting documentation before payment.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Marketing, and Accounts Payable to ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
4. Marketing Campaign Cost Management
- Track and manage costs for marketing campaigns, events, exhibitions, sponsorships, media placements, advertising production, promotional materials, and branding activities.
- Compare actual costs against approved budgets and analyze variances.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all marketing project expenses.
5. Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Prepare monthly marketing expense reports and management analysis.
- Analyze spending by brand, campaign, supplier, and cost category.
- Provide management with financial insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency and return on investment (ROI).
6. Financial Compliance
- Ensure all marketing expenditures comply with company policies, accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing relevant documentation.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of marketing contracts, invoices, payment records, and supporting documents.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Marketing, Procurement, Legal, and Finance teams to support marketing operations.
- Assist the Marketing team in improving budgeting, expense management, and payment processes.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Finance Manager or CFO

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting, financial analysis, or expense management; experience in marketing finance is preferred.
- Good understanding of budgeting, expense control, and financial processes.
- Experience with SAP (FI/CO) or other ERP systems is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Fluent in English; experience in a multinational company is an advantage.
