Job Description
The Enrolled Nursing Assistant (ENA) will support the implementation of a Digital Chest X-ray (CXR) Project by assisting with patient flow, TB screening activities, infection prevention and control practices, patient preparation, health education, and linkage-to-care processes. The incumbent will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure efficient service delivery at health facilities and community outreach sites serviced by the Digital X-ray Truck.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Care and Support:
- Assist with the registration and preparation of clients attending the Digital X-ray Truck service.
- Support patient flow to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Assist clients with completion of screening tools and required documentation.
- Provide basic health education on TB, HIV, and other health conditions.
- Support clients throughout the screening and testing process while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist with patient follow-up and linkage-to-care activities as required.
TB Screening and Community Outreach Support:
- Assist healthcare staff during TB screening and case-finding activities.
- Support community awareness and health promotion initiatives.
- Identify clients requiring further assessment and refer them appropriately.
- Assist in tracing and follow-up activities where required.
- Support implementation of outreach services at community and facility level.
Infection Prevention and Control:
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of screening and service areas.
- Support implementation of respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette measures.
- Ensure adequate availability of personal protective equipment and consumables.
Administrative and Record Keeping:
- Complete and maintain accurate patient records and registers.
- Assist with filing and management of screening documentation.
- Ensure all records are accurately completed and submitted according to project requirements.
- Support data collection and reporting activities.
- Track and record results of all patients screened and teste
Quality Assurance:
- Adhere to project protocols, standard operating procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethical standards at all times.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Certificate as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant accredited by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Current registration with SANC as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant.
Advantageous
- Experience in TB, HIV, or community screening programmes.
Experience
- Minimum one (1) to two (2) years' experience in a primary healthcare, community health, or public health environment.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPC) practices.
Requirements
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Willingness to travel to facilities and community outreach sites.
- Ability to work after hours and on weekends when required.
