Job Description
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, the Mechanical Apprentice is responsible for executing planned and reactive maintenance on Mechanical assets and equipment (e.g. HVAC, bridges, pump station, control panels, lifts, escalators, building management systems etc.). They are responsible for executing all maintenance-related activities and have to work closely with the Mechanical Supervisor and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that all concerns or queries are timeously and professionally resolved. This includes a key focus on delivering excellent customer service and communication. In collaboration with the Mechanical Supervisor, they must oversee and control all external Service Providers and Suppliers. In addition, they will occasionally be required to assist with ad-hoc or special projects
Job Requirements
Job Objectives
Planned and Reactive Maintenance and Upgrades:
- Conducts planned and preventative maintenance programs for the Mechanical department.
- Oversee and manage the resolution of all call outs
- Liaise with the relevant Stakeholders regarding mechanical breakdowns, issues or complaints
- Oversee and manage regular maintenance and replacement of mechanical assets, HVAC, bridges, pump stations, control panels, lifts and escalators etc.
- Monitoring of all Mechanical equipment via Building Management System (BMS)
- Oversee and manage fault finding on Mechanical Plants (e.g. air-conditioning plant rooms, seawater plant, district cooling systems, pump stations, bridges, lifts and escalators)
Site-walks and Inspections
- Conduct, ensure and oversee site walks, daily checks and site inspections of all mechanical plants
- Doing regular quality control checks
- Identify safety hazards on site and report such to the manager
People Management
- Liaise with, support and manage service providers
- Track and monitor progress and quality
- Ensure that all stakeholders (internal and external) comply with all the relevant Health and Safety standards and legislative requirements
- Manage risk and compliance
Stakeholder Management
- Inform and collaborate with the relevant BU’s on the planned maintenance to ensure that this is communicated to the tenants
- Manage external service providers and suppliers (specifically obtaining competitive quotations and ensuring excellent delivery of work)
- Build and foster professional working relationships with trusted service providers and suppliers
- Build and foster professional working relationship with tenants to ensure excellent customer service at all times
- Report regularly on Maintenance progress and keep tenants informed at all times
Ad-hoc projects
- Working on weekends and public holidays as well as overtime will be required at times
- Physical fitness is essential to perform duties / tasks effectively and must be prepared to work in sewer pump stations
