The Generic Management qualification at NQF Level 5 is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and applied competence. It is aligned with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and Key objectives include:
1. Skill Development–Equipunemployedindividualswithbasicorgenericworkplaceskillsthatarewidelyapplicable
across industries (e.g., communication, teamwork, problem-solving).
2. Career Guidance – Help learners identify career paths, set goals, and understand job market demands.
3. Job Readiness – Improve employability, including CV writing, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.
4. Motivation and Confidence – Build self-efficacy and motivation to actively seek and sustain employment.
PURPOSE OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Thefocusof thisqualificationistoenablelearnerstodevelopcompetenceinarangeofknowledge,skills,attitudes,and
values, including:
? Initiating, developing, implementing, evaluating operational strategies, projects, and action plans, and where
appropriate, recommending change within teams and/or the unit to improve the effectiveness of the unit.
? Monitoring and measuring performance and applying continuous or innovative improvement interventions in the unit
in order to attain its desired outcomes, including customer satisfaction, and thereby contributing towards the
achievement of the objectives and vision of the entity.
? Leading a first-line manager by capitalising on the talents of the team members and promoting synergistic
interaction between individuals and teams, to enhance individual, team and unit effectiveness to achieve the goals
of the entity.
? Building relationships using communication processes both vertically and horizontally within the unit, with superiors
and with stakeholders across the value chain to ensure the achievement of intended outcomes.
RATIONALE OF QUALIFICATIONS:
? Thescopeofgenericmanagementcoversfivedomains: leadership,managingtheenvironment,managingrelations,
managing knowledge, and the practice of management.
? It provides opportunities for learners to transfer between various specializations within management.
? Thisqualification is further intended toempower learners toacquire theknowledge, skills, attitudesandvalues
required tooperateconfidentlyas individuals inSouthAfricancommunitiesand to respond to thechallenging
economic environment and constantly changing world of work.
REQUIREMENTS:
? Unemployed candidates between the ages of 18 and 35 who are in possession of a Matric (Grade 12) certificate
? South African citizenship with no criminal record
? Willingness to undergo written assessment tests and/or interviews as part of the selection process.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
You must demonstrate good interpersonal skills, professionalism, integrity, and have the ability to work under pressure and meet set course deadlines. Successful candidates must also be ambitious, diligent, and willing to learn.
