Purpose of the job

As a Finance Solutions Product Owner, and a member of the agile team, you are responsible for the execution of a finance product vision and delivery aligned with evolving customer and business needs. As the Product Owner, you play a crucial role in maximizing the economic value delivered by the team.

Acting as a strategic liaison, this role facilitates communication and determines solution objectives that align with broader organizational financial goals. The Product Owner will ensure that the right value-driven solutions are built whilst maintaining the highest standards of fiscal integrity, scalability, and automated accuracy.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Apply domain expertise to deliver continuous optimization of the financial ecosystem.

  • Introduce new tools and practices that enhance the user experience, ensuring that financial processes are as seamless.

  • Provide critical business context to ensure every solution meets overarching financial needs, while supporting business owners in defining clear guidelines and expectations.

  • Strategically drive new system and product development

  • Oversee Support Service to the business

  • Training /Knowledge acquisition and transfer

  • Leadership

  • Ad hoc Responsibilities

Job Requirements

  • Business degree with Finance and Information Systems/Technology subjects

  • Financial Accounting Degree, Product Owner or Scrum certification (Beneficial)

  • 5 years of experience in a similar role leading a team of Business and Systems Analysts. (Beneficial)

  • Business acumen experience in retail finance environments. (Beneficial)

  • Project exposure to implement and design solutions aligned to industry practices

  • Facilitate training sessions/presentations

  • Above average computer literacy - MS Office & MS Project  / Google Workspace

  • Curious mindset / self-learner

  • Resource Recruitment and on-boarding 

  • Leadership skills

  • Project management skills 

  • Hands on experience with software development and documentation

  • Scrum and user stories with acceptance criteria for Agile

  • Business Requirements Document to Functional Requirements Document for Waterfall projects

  • Able to explain technical details 

  • Solid foundation in finance and business system design 

  • Able to take responsibility and be self motivated

  • Able to develop ideas and share them clearly (in non-technical terms when required)

  • Able to explain solution trade-offs (in non-technical terms when required)

  • Able to work within a team

  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.

  • Will respond in a supportive and patient and friendly / approachable manner (passionate)

  • Can support more than one business process  in a system or one process over more than 1 system

  • Be able to configure on application back end or front end (not develop)

The following will be an advantage:

  • SAP/Oracle Finance 

  • Financial Reporting Tools

  • Experience using Jira

  • Understand and translate business requirements into quality system solutions that ensure optimal system performance and stability and provide support and continuous improvement.
