The Sewer Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining sewerage treatment plants to ensure the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater in compliance with regulatory standards. The incumbent ensures optimal plant performance, environmental compliance, and reliable service delivery to the community.
Job Description

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plants and associated equipment.

 

  • Perform daily checks on pumps, valves, chemical dosing systems, and mechanical/electrical equipment.

 

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment.

 

  • Monitor effluent quality and perform tests according to standards and protocols.

 

  • Record operational data, readings and prepare reports.

 

  • Respond to plant faults, breakdowns, and emergency situations.

Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

 

  • Relevant certificate in Wastewater Treatment / Sewerage Plant Operations (Class I OR II Waste process controller certificate ).

 

  • 2-3 years’ experience in wastewater/sewerage plant operations or related field

 

  • Valid Code B driver’s licence

  • willing to work shifts and standby
