The oncology nurse reviews the treatment plan with the oncologist, is aware of expected outcomes and possible complications, and independently assesses the patients general physical and emotional status. It is essential that a detailed nursing history and physical examination be completed.

• Problem analysis/solving skills and accurate record keeping

• Adaptable and able to work effectively within a team

• Detail orientated especially with regards to stock control

• Liaison between patients, doctors and personnel

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels

Job Requirements

• Matric

• Professional Nursing Qualification

• Registered with SANC

• Minimum 2-3 years’ post qualification experience

• Knowledge of Haematology / Oncology patient care

• Shift work compulsory

• Work overtime when required
