Job Description
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies by maintaining up-to-date knowledge, participating in training sessions, and proactively sourcing answers to queries on a daily and as-needed basis. 
  • Comply with established processes through accurate implementation, continuous process awareness, and timely resolution of any areas of concern. 
  • Propose process improvements by identifying opportunities, presenting recommendations to the line manager, and supporting suggestions with relevant information and insights.
  • Ensure daily completion of deliveries by receiving assigned products, verifying the integrity of explosives seals, confirming delivery addresses, planning efficient routes, delivering to designated locations, and obtaining proof of delivery. 
  • Maximise delivery efficiency by correctly loading products into the delivery vehicle, organizing routes strategically, and strictly adhering to public traffic laws and CIE explosives transport regulations. 
  • Assist in the safe offloading of products by confirming the offloading plan with recipients, securing the offloading area, following all required safety protocols, and executing the offload according to the agreed step-by-step process. 
  • Maintain full vehicle compliance by completing daily inspection checklists, ensuring the validity of the driver’s license and Explosives Operators Card, and checking the condition and presence of required safety equipment such as fire extinguishers. 
  • Accurately maintain the driver’s logbook each day by recording deliveries completed, distances traveled, and any other relevant trip information, and submitting the log in the required format by the agreed deadline. 
  • Monitor and report fuel usage by maintaining a fuel consumption log that includes fuel costs, mileage per tank, and other relevant data, and ensure timely submission in the prescribed format. 
  • Ensure effective implementation of SHE by delivering comprehensive training, completing training programs, and addressing any identified gaps or non-compliance. 
  • Monitor SHE performance by establishing clear standards, ensuring timely completion of monitoring activities, and resolving issues within defined deadlines. 
  • Maintain ongoing SHE compliance by reviewing current practices, identifying deviations, and correcting them within established timelines.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders by facilitating regular communication, exchanging feedback, and supporting collaboration. 
  • Maintain relationships with service providers by understanding and tracking service levels required and monitoring delivery against standards, identifying areas of concern and implementing corrective action monthly and as required.
  • Contribute to the team by actively participating in team events, identifying areas where support is needed, and providing the necessary assistance. 
  • Engage with team members consistently and be an active, dependable presence in daily team activities. 
  • Identify personal development needs and source suitable capacity-building opportunities. 
  • Obtain the necessary approvals and successfully complete relevant self-development activities to enhance skills and competencies.

Job Requirements
  • Hazchem Certification
  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent 
  • Driver's License
  • 2+ years’ experience as a driver
  • 1+ experience in explosives product handling and emergency processes (Hazchem)
  • 2+ years’ experience as a driver within a supply chain explosives environment
