Job Description

Purpose of Role

To provide essential support in the Laboratory Department by assisting with basic sample handling and preparation for the Geology Department's evaluation drilling exercise. This role helps process approximately 2000 samples per month, contributing to cost reductions and faster turnaround times in Karo Platinum's PGM mining operations 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Sample Handling and Preparation Support

• Assist in receiving, labeling, and initial sorting of geological samples from drilling activities.
• Support sample preparation tasks such as weighing, cleaning, and basic crushing under the supervision of the Laboratory Technician.
• Maintain sample storage areas to ensure organization and integrity.

Lab Operations and Safety

• Follow safety protocols for handling potentially hazardous materials, including wearing PPE and reporting risks.
• Help maintain a clean and compliant lab environment in line with mining regulations and company standards. 

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of  5 O-Levels passes including  Science subjects (or equivalent).
• Certificate in Laboratory Techniques or related field is an added advantage.
• At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory or mining environment (entry-level candidates with relevant training considered).
• Basic knowledge of safety standards in handling samples and lab equipment.
