Job Description

Job Purpose

To support Registered Occupational Hygienists in conducting monitoring surveys, preparing reports, and maintaining equipment, while gaining practical experience aligned with SAIOH standards and SafetyCloud’s Quality Management System.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Registered Occupational Hygienists (ROH, ROHT, or ROHA) during occupational hygiene monitoring surveys.
  • Prepare accurate survey reports within required timelines.
  • Adhere to procedures and standards outlined in the organisation’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Support calibration, preparation, and maintenance of monitoring equipment and sampling media.
Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Recently graduated with a degree in Occupational Hygiene, or currently studying part-time towards a Hygiene qualification.
  • Professional registration with SAIOH as a Registered Occupational Hygiene Assistant (ROHA) will be advantageous.
  • A valid Legal Knowledge Certificate will be beneficial.
  • A valid Ethics Training Certificate will be advantageous.

 

Skills & Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of occupational hygiene principles and terminology.
  • Familiarity with common monitoring equipment (e.g., air sampling pumps, noise dosimeters).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
  • Good written communication skills for report preparation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in field conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours when required.

 

Other 

  • Preference will be given to employment equity candidates.
  • A valid driver’s licence (or currently in the process of obtaining one).
  • Reliable own transport will be advantageous.
  • A valid passport will be advantageous.
