Role Description: The role will control and co-ordinate the production process and delays to ensure optimal utilisation of mining equipment to obtain production targets levels as required by the production plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate and record process information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise production delays during production time.
- Continuously analyse mining efficiencies to recommend or implement improvements or changes to maximise mining operation.
- Co-ordinate and monitor mining operations to ensure adherence to production parameters and standards according to the production hourly and daily targets or call.
- Monitor underground emergency systems and warning alarms.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders of the production process to ensure operational optimisation.
- Responsible for operating the SCADA and PLC systems and report on all observations during production time.
- Responsible for SCADA control and operating the interlocking system on all process equipment (i.e. belts, crushers, feeders etc.).
- Responsible for implementing and controlling the Mining process automated equipment lockout registry system on the SCADA.
- Ensure the capturing of breakdowns on an applicable software program is done.
- Ensure that all Mining reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
- Gather production delay information to compile process reports according to department procedures or requirements.
- Ensure that breakdowns are identified, and repairs organised.
- Responsible to monitor the duration of the breakdown and report to the relevant stakeholders if it takes too long.
- Responsible to communicate any HSEQ incidents that happened underground and Surface and/or area of responsibility.
- Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
- Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
- Record escalations to tonnes hoisted, tonnes Mined, stockpile management, safety related issues to the standby manager or relevant section head/manager.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound Communication system with the Mining Function.
- Supervises subordinates in the designated area (where applicable).
- Effective Team Player and Effective Self-Management.
Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Blasting Certificate / National Certificate Rock breaking Underground Hard Rock Level 3 OR
- A recognised Trade Test Certificate through a recognised institution and/or apprenticeship**
- A minimum of 3 years mining / underground environment experience after obtaining a Blasting Certificate OR Trade Test Certificate.
- Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite (Proven knowledge and application of Excel).
- Valid drivers’ license.
**Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical training centre (e.g. Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Should these documents not be submitted, the application will not be considered. Candidates holding S28 Trade Test certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.
ADVANTAGEOUS REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in Citect SCADA or similar control system
- Control Room Operator Skills Development NQF Level 4
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Compile reports containing the production information (incidents, delays & breakdowns) according to standard operating procedures.
- Know and understand all departmental processes and structures.
- Have knowledge and skill in analysing the production information, identifying any non-conformances and notify relevant stakeholders of any delays.
- Liaise with stakeholders according to standard operating procedures to ensure optimization of the operations.
- Provide the process information and changes to stakeholders by choosing the correct communication medium.
- Have skill in informing involved parties of breakdowns and maintenance activities as seen on the SCADA system.
- Know and understand safety rules and regulations with regards to the interlocking system.
- Consult and liaise with maintenance personnel and production personnel and schedule maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment.
