An opportunity has become available within our new Design Centre for an experienced Fabric and Trims Buyer. The successful individual will be responsible to plan and manage the purchasing, sourcing and development of raw materials (Fabric and Trims) while maintaining optimal levels of stock at the right quantity and price as per operational requirements.

An opportunity has become available within our new Design Centre for an experienced Fabric and Trims Buyer. The successful individual will be responsible to plan and manage the purchasing, sourcing and development of raw materials (Fabric and Trims) while maintaining optimal levels of stock at the right quantity and price as per operational requirements.

Job Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Stock Control
  • Develop and Source Trims and Fabric across brands
  • Purchasing Local & Import Trims and Fabric
  • Load Fabric and Trims descriptions in System
  • Monthly reporting on stock balances
  • Tracking and reporting on fabric and trim deliveries (co-ordinate with shipping department)
  • Ensure the right quality and quantity are available according to production plan and
  • Manage the functional performance against KPI targets.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
  • Ensuring on time delivery of materials according to production plan and MRP.
  • Operate function in a cost-effective manner.
  • Manage stock accuracy according to KPI goals.
  • Maintain integrity of stock held and proactively managing stock levels.
  • Manage supplier performance according to KPI targets.
  • Support business with supplier price negotiations.
  • Sourcing and on boarding of fabric suppliers at the best price and quality to meet delivery requirements.

Key Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Tertiary clothing/textile/garment construction qualification is preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • A valid driver’s license (advantage)
  • Experience working in a clothing retail environment is required
  • A working knowledge of the latest Microsoft packages is required
  • Medium to high level of Excel experience (advantageous)
  • Candidates with knowledge of garment construction and costing will be given preference
  • Previous experience with Sync and PLM will be highly beneficial
