An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic Production Practitioner to join Samancor Middelburg Ferrochrome smelting operation in Mpumalanga. The perfect candidate will be the continuous improvement driver of the Metallurgical process through reporting on and analysing production performance, making recommendations and implementing projects in a safe manner.

Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To be the continuous improvement driver of the Metallurgical process through reporting on and analysing production performance, making recommendations and implementing projects in a safe manner.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, RISK, QUALITY AND COMMUNITY

  • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
  • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
  • Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
  • Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
  • Ensure the OHSA standards are maintained
  • Adhere to all related SOP’s, PTO’s and CTO’s as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standards
  • 5S Management

CUSTOMERS

  • Ensure Customers Satisfaction

PEOPLE

  • Supervise direct subordinates
  • Conduct Process Training

BUSINESS PROCESSES

  • Analyse and Interpret Process Data
  • Control consumable stocks
  • Implement, analyse and monitor process changes
  • Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings
  • Conduct and Report on Process tests
  • Achieve Continuous Improvement cost saving initiatives
  • Manage improvement projects
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Training and coaching of subordinates
  • Report Metallurgical measures
  • Good knowledge of IMS
  • Good understanding of MES
  • Load orders on SAP and Coupa
  • Achieve process quality and budget
  • Perform standby duties
  • Work overtime as and when required

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • N6 Certificate (External)
  • N3 studying towards N4 for internal candidates
  • 4 years’ relevant experience, preferably 1-year supervisory experience
  • Driver’s License (Code 08/B)
  • Computer Literacy

ADVANTAGEOUS

  • Relevant National Diploma or Degree in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering
  • BOF Steel plant, Sub Arc furnace, DC Furnace experience in steel and ferroalloy industry
